OSCP - Week 4

Home Blog

This week has been a slow one for me. I rooted 5 machines (Sherlock, Mail, Sean, Timeclock and Humble). Humble is one of the “Big Fours” which I’m really proud of.

Really happy about one of them as it was my first time doing a buffer overflow attack manually. I still need to go through this again to wrap my head around it, but I’m proud of actually completing it (Might do a post on Buffer Over Flow next)

Also I have access to the Development network now! I have 8 machines left on the Public network left to do, then I’ll start doing the IT and Development.

Overall, I think I am doing ok. Everyday, I feel like I’m becoming a better Pen Tester. Solving these problems more quicker and capturing these patterns easier from rooting past machines. For the days that I feel like I don’t actually get anywhere – I need take a break, go for a walk, breathe and then focus.
